Military Students

Mason is a military-friendly institution and has been recognized as a military-friendly school by GIJobs.com, which puts it in the top 20 percent of colleges and universities nationwide recommended for veterans and active-duty service members.

If you're a member of the military or a military dependent, you'll find a second family at Mason. The Office of Military Services includes staff from every branch of the armed forces, and who have used military-related education benefits.

The great thing about our Office of Military Services is the Office of Military Services provides a hub for our military affiliated students to gather and reconnect with one another. We do have a wonderful SVA student chapter. And we also have a Alumni Chapter that really helps connect current students with past students. And that's a really great networking opportunity for both communities. Our office will help students figure out what tuition assistance and GI Bill benefits that they have available for them to use. And then we'll also connect them with financial aid, and other scholarship opportunities. I can't say enough positive things about being able to reach out to the Office of Military services here at GMU for any questions that I had-- Being able to do the right paperwork, hitting the right timelines. And then in terms of the military friendly environment, many of my colleagues in my classes come from a military background or have had some time in the military or affiliated with a government. So there's definitely an understanding of veterans bring a different perspective. If you are considering going back to school to further your career, then George Mason University is definitely the place you want to consider.
